BCA (Building and Construction Authority) – Green Mark Award
The BCA Green Mark certification scheme was designed to promote environmental awareness in the construction sector in Singapore. It was launched in January 2005.
The scheme aims to protect the climate and reduce CO2 emissions from the planning stage of a building right through to implementation. In addition to energy and water efficiency, the choice and development of the location, environmental protection and innovation and the work environment play a role. Properties must be reassessed every three years.
The sustainability of a building is rated based on a point-scoring approach categorised into four levels: 50 to 75 points qualifies for certification, 75 to 85 points for Green Mark Gold, 85 to 90 points for Green Mark GoldPlus and above 90 points achieves Green Mark Platinum.
